A. Purpose

  • Recognizing the importance of reading as the essence of education and fostering life-time readers who enjoy reading
  • Fostering right value system and aesthetic sensibility via reading education focused on cooperative reading, debate, and writing
  • Establishing reading and humanity ecology system which continue to grow and learn via everyday reading with knowing and life
3-4-1 Operation of student reading and writing clubs
  • When: (Invitation) March ~ April/ (operation) April ~ December
  • For whom: 30 teams among those reading and writing clubs of elementary, middle, high and special schools
  • What
    • Training (April ~ May) and consulting (June ~ September) of student reading and writing club management teachers
    • Student Author Book Publishing Festival: November ~ December
3-4-2 Operation of Youth Reading & Debate Culture Program
  • When: May ~ October
  • Youth Reading Culture Program
    • For whom: High school students
    • What: Reading culture experiencing program over 2 nights and 3 days staying together
  • Youth Debate Culture Program
    • For whom: Elementary, middle, and high school students
    • What: Debate culture experiencing program for more than 6 hours a day, non-staying type
3-4-3 Operating 2020 Bitgoeul Reading Marathon with Sharing and Growth
  • When: April 5(Mon.) ~ November 5(Fri.) ※ Website is open to use all the time.
  • For whom: Those who applies among the students, school staff, parents, and general citizens in the area
  • What
    • Participation course: A total of 7 courses (Turtle, Crocodile, Ostrich, Rabbit, Lion, Tiger, Laurel Crown)
    • Method: Posting reading reports at the website (http://bookmarathon.gen.go.kr) without any procedure of application to receive the Marathon Completion Certificate.

    • Supporting the humanities class project to meet the life
    • Supporting the operation of subdivision of the Reading Education Support Unit, ‘Human Book Life Growth Project’
    • Establishing and matching ‘Human Book’ personal network
3-4-5 Development and supply of Reading Experience Programs to help everyday reading
  • When: March ~ December
  • For whom: Ten elementary and middle schools in the area
  • What
    • ·Book Game·, ·Book Class·, ·Non-competition Debate·, ·Logic Writing·; a total of 4 kinds
    • Developing programs applicable on-site via Reading Education Support Unit
    • Distribution to all the schools in the area
3-4-6 Convening Reading & Essay Festival
  • When: June [June 13(Sat.), t.b.c.]
  • For whom: Around 120 high school students in the area with recommendation from principal
  • What: Two-minute presentation, invitational lecture, writing essay, revision of essay, etc.
3-4-7 Convening Reading & Debate Festival and Camp
  • Operation of elementary school students Reading & Debate Festival
    • When: September [September 12(Sat.) & 26(Sat.), t.b.c.]
    • For whom: Elementary school students in the area(priority is given to those students of student reading & discussion clubs, and student writing clubs)
    • What
      • - ‘Supporting non-competition debate of ‘Reading Education Support Unit’ (twice)
      • - Various types of group reading & debate by students choice
  • Operation of Youth Reading & Debate Camp
    • When: August [Aug. 7(Fri.), t.b.c.]
    • For whom: Middle and high school students in the area(priority is given to those students of student reading & discussion clubs, and student writing clubs)
    • What
      • - Student-led reading program organization and operation
      • - Cooperation by ‘Gwangju Debate·Essay Education Academy’
3-4-8 Operation of Essay(Debate) Education Course
  • Time
    • 1st: March 28(Sat.)~June 20(Sat.); 11 weeks, 34 hours planned
    • 2nd: September 5(Sat.)~November 28(Sat.); 11weeks, 34 hours planned
  • For whom: Around 120 high school students in the area with recommendation of principal
  • What
    • Class designation: 6 areas, a total of 12 classes [2 for each area, 10 students per class]
    • Cooperative debate and logical writing based on reading
    • Forming learning communities with debate·essay teachers and 10 students
    • Providing learning and growing opportunity with learning community-specific education course for 11 weeks
3-4-9 Operation of teachers study meeting (clubs) relating to reading education
  • When: March ~ December
  • Gwangju Reading Education Support Unit
    • For whom: Around 80 teachers of elementary, middle, high and special schools (over 10 per team)
    • What
      • - Divisions: Research(Developing and applying programs), Education (School-visiting Reading Class)
      • - Program development and generalization activities for supporting every day reading
  • Gwangju Debate·Essay Education Academy
    • For whom: 20 teachers of middle and high schools (over 10 per team)
    • What: Supporting debate·essay education, developing materials, self-training, etc.
  • Operation of Reading Policy Study TF Team
    • For whom: Around 10 reading education teachers
    • What
      • - Policy TF Team organization and operation by reading education teachers
      • - Supporting the establishment of reading education policy to the school and providing feedback
      • - Studying policies relating to everyday reading and social reading and establishing regional network
3-4-10 Operation of reading education teachers capability enhancement training
  • When: April (planned; 1 night 2 days)
  • For whom: Reading Education Support Unit, debate·essay education academy, writing club teachers, essay (debate) education instructors, reading education officials, etc.
  • What: Discussion of current issues relating to 2020 Reading Education and sharing information, etc.
